Who we are
SignalRank is an independent eSIM comparison service. We publish performance rankings for eSIM providers across 355+ cities worldwide. We earn affiliate commissions when you purchase through links on our site — this is how we fund the data collection and site operation.
What data we collect
Affiliate click data
When you click an affiliate link, we record: the destination city, the eSIM provider clicked, a hashed version of your IP address (SHA-256, daily-salted — not reversible to your IP), your browser user agent string, the referring page, and a session identifier. We do not store your raw IP address.
Server logs
Our hosting provider (Vercel) retains standard server access logs including IP addresses for up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention. We do not access these for analytics.
What we do not collect
- Account or registration information — there is no account system
- Payment information — all purchases are handled by eSIM providers directly
- Email addresses (unless you voluntarily submit a signal report)
- Location data beyond what you submit in a signal report
- Tracking cookies for advertising purposes
How we use data
- Affiliate click data is used to calculate commission earnings and identify the most-clicked providers and cities for content prioritisation
- Aggregated click data (no individual-level tracking) may be used to improve city page rankings
- Signal report submissions are used to update eSIM performance scores in our database
- We do not sell data to third parties. We do not use data for behavioural advertising.

PostHog
We use PostHog for product analytics — page views, city page visits, and affiliate link clicks (aggregated). PostHog stores events on EU-region servers. IP addresses are anonymised before storage. No individual user profiling. Privacy policy →
eSIM affiliate partners
When you click an affiliate link and purchase, the eSIM provider (Airalo, Holafly, Nomad, Amigo, 4S eSIM) processes your payment and personal data under their own privacy policies. We receive a commission confirmation but no personal data about you.
Cookies
SignalRank uses no advertising or tracking cookies. PostHog sets a first-party analytics cookie to measure page views and city page engagement. This cookie does not track you across other websites and does not contain personal data. All other functionality uses no cookies.
Your rights (UK GDPR)
If you are in the UK or EEA, you have rights under GDPR/UK GDPR including:
- Right to access data we hold about you
- Right to erasure (right to be forgotten)
- Right to data portability
- Right to object to processing
Because we do not store identifiable personal data (only hashed IPs and anonymous click events), we cannot identify you specifically. If you submitted a signal report with contact details, contact us at privacy@signalrank.fyi to exercise your rights.
Data retention
- Affiliate click data: retained for 2 years for commission reconciliation
- Signal reports: retained indefinitely (used to build the performance database)
- City content cache: updated quarterly, old versions not archived
Changes to this policy
We will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page when material changes are made. Continuing to use SignalRank after a policy change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
